The ongoing Desert Woods and Neighborhood Extension Project has an important traffic and schedule update:
During construction of 15th Street, crews encountered loose soil conditions that will require a complete closure of SE 15th Street between King Hezekiah Way and SE Helen Lane beginning July 9 for approximately 3 weeks. The closure is necessary for the safety of the traveling public as well as construction crews.
The detour map is shown below and the anticipated schedule is as follows:
15th STREET FLAGGING, JULY 1 – JULY 8: During the next week, flaggers will be present on SE 15th Street between King Hezekiah and Helen Lane. Traffic delays of 5 to 7 minutes can be expected during construction hours of 7 am – 5:30 pm.
FERGUSON/27TH STREET TEMPORARY SIGNAL, JULY 2 – JULY 30: Beginning July 2nd, a temporary signal will be installed at Ferguson Rd and 27th Street. This will help detoured traffic safely access 27th Street from Ferguson Road.
15th STREET FULL CLOSURE, JULY 9 – JULY 30: Beginning next week on July 9th SE 15th will experience a full closure between Ferguson Road and Reed Market Road for approximately three weeks.
- The detour utilizes Ferguson Road, SE 27th Street, and Reed Market Road.
- A temporary traffic signal will be place at the intersection of Ferguson Road and SE 27th Street.
15th STREET, SOUTHBOUND CLOSURE, AUGUST 1 – early November: At the completion of the full closure in late July, SE 15th Street will reopen the northbound lane on 15th Street and the temporary signal will be removed. Southbound traffic will be closed at Reed Market Road. Traffic patterns will return to those that are in place today which are anticipated to be in place through November.
