In response to community concern and Council direction, changes to how and where the City requires tree preservation during new development are being proposed. The goal is to preserve more trees in town while not impeding the development of needing housing.

The City recently held two community Q&A sessions about proposed recommended changes to our tree preservation code. Recordings can be found at bendoregon.gov/tree-code or linked above.

Looking forward, a work session and public hearing on these recommended changes are tentatively scheduled for June 10 and June 24, respectively.

A work session and public hearing before the Bend City Council is expected to happen sometime in July and August.

In the meantime, public testimony can be submitted to the Planning Commission at cityplanningcommissionall@bendoregon.gov or to the Bend City Council at councilall@bendoregon.gov. Please cc Pauline Hardie at phardie@bendoregon.gov when sending these emails.
