Please find the attached proposed amendments to the Bend Development Code (BDC) for tree preservation which include the Tree Regulation Update Advisory Committee’s (TRUAC) recommendations.

  • The amendments propose clear and objective tree protection standards forlarger new developments that balancethe need for housing production,housing affordability, and naturalresource preservation.
  • The proposed amendments update the street tree requirements and add requirements for water efficient planter strip landscaping.
  • The proposed amendments include revisions to other sections of the BDC for consistency and clarity.

 

The proposed amendments are scheduled for a Bend Planning Commission public hearing on June 10, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. and a City Council public hearing on June 20, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.  The meetings will be conducted virtually through Zoom and in person at the Bend City Hall, Council Chambers, 710 NW Wall Street, Bend, Oregon. Instructions on viewing, listening, providing comments, and participating in the virtual meeting will be on the agenda.

 

The community is invited to give public comment at the public hearings in person or virtually. Comments may also be emailed to the Planning Commission at cityplanningcommissionall@bendoregon.gov  and to the Council at councilall@bendoregon.gov.
