In addition to the news release below, the Old Farm District board has learned through conversations with the city that they intend to move forward in the future with a roundabout at Ferguson and 27th  We will keep you updated as we learn more.

SE 15th Street and Ferguson Road Intersection Closure Begins Monday, June 22

Crews are preparing to begin construction on the new single lane roundabout at the intersection of SE 15th Street and Ferguson Road. To complete the work safely and efficiently, the intersection is expected to fully close on Monday, June 22, with detours in place. The closure will begin after the private development project impacting Ferguson Road near 27th Street has reopened to two-way traffic.

To lessen travel impacts, the timing of the closure aligns with the school summer break, when traffic volumes are reduced. Project completion is anticipated in the fall.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION

  • Full road closure of 15th Street and Ferguson Avenue intersection

  • Traffic detour and delays – See map below

  • Noise, dust, and heavy equipment

  • For your safety, please keep out of the construction areas

  • Access for Emergency Response vehicles will be maintained

ROUNDABOUT DESIGN

The new roundabout is designed to create safer, more efficient travel for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Engineers have also evaluated the design alongside other planned and recently constructed improvements in the area to ensure everything works together smoothly and supports a safer, more cohesive travel experience.

ADDITIONAL IMPROVEMENTS

In addition to the new roundabout, the construction includes roadway resurfacing from 300 feet south of Chloe Lane to King Hezekiah, and a new shared use path will be built on the west side of SE 15th Street from north of Sherwood Forest Drive to Iron Horse Lane as a part of the Bend Bikeway.

Emergency response access will be maintained throughout construction.
