Septic-to-Sewer Committee Recommendations

The Septic-to-Sewer Committee has studied funding and financing options for over a year and presented their recommendations to City Council on July 18th.

The Old Farm District Neighborhood Association is holding a joint Neighborhood Meeting with members of the Committee to present their findings to you and answer your questions.

The Committee consists of your neighbors and experts – 8 out of 11 members live in the impacted area. The study area includes parts of the Desert Woods and Kings Forest neighborhoods, though any policy resulting from this process is expected to be applied city-wide.

Join us for this neighborhood meeting at the Senior Center on Saturday, August 11, from 1:00-3:00pm, with sign-in opening at 12:30pm.

OFDNA Board members and members of the Committee will be briefing the results and analysis of the Recommendations. City staff will be in attendance as well.

Meeting from 1 – 3pm

City Council will hold a “listening session” on August 15th before the council meeting begins. That listening session is an opportunity to hear from the community before council makes a final decision – to adopt the Committee’s recommendations or not.

Our neighborhood meeting is a chance for you to learn about the recommendations and be well-prepared ahead of that council meeting. We won’t exaggerate… the stakes are high.

The impact of City Council rejecting the Committee’s Recommendation of capping participating homeowner costs at $25,000, for example, could result in individual homeowner costs of $70,000 to $100,000 or more.

We hope to have your voice join us in support of the Committee Recommendations as City Council weighs their decision.
